DATA & METHODOLOGY
Every number should
explain itself.
What goes into a match brief, what the words mean, and where the evidence stops.
Competition data from Sportmonks.
Fixtures, team identities, scores and current competition positions come from Sportmonks. FootyTotals calculates the historical rates from completed results within the selected league. These are observed frequencies, not betting recommendations or predicted probabilities.
The displayed table positions are from the current season’s table at the last successful import. They are not historical pre-match rankings. Read the provider’s score definitions.
League top scorers shows current players from the two clubs who are among the league’s top 10 by season goals, including everyone tied with the tenth player. Equal goal totals share a rank; subsequent ranks skip those tied places. Totals include penalties and may include goals for a previous club in the same league that season. Most domestic leagues use regular-season records only. Denmark, Finland, Romania and Serbia also include their championship and relegation league rounds; knockout playoffs are excluded. Japan uses its regular season, excluding regional stages. Champions League, Europa League and Conference League use league-phase and knockout goals (including extra time), excluding qualifiers and penalty shootouts, with a minimum of two goals to appear in Champions League only. Europa League and Conference League retain players with one goal in the top ten, including ties. These are current rankings at the displayed update time, including on finished matches, and do not confirm selection or availability. We refresh this optional data about every 30 minutes during use and hide it after one hour without a successful update.
Each competition keeps its own history. The three UEFA tournaments include their main league phase and knockouts; FA Cup includes the main draw only. Bundesliga Play-offs and UEFA Super Cup include only their own fixtures. Qualifying rounds and other competitions are excluded. Goal markets use 90 minutes plus stoppage time, excluding extra time and shootouts. Last 10 may include previous seasons; the current-season filter keeps only this season. Knockout rounds and legs stay separate. Confirmed scorer-absence notices are available only where current-team competition goals can be verified. They are not yet available for these tournaments or the newly added domestic leagues.
Half of each Monday–Sunday UTC week’s Champions League fixtures are free without an account, rounded up when the total is odd. We spread the selection across the week’s scheduled matches and keep it in place as those matches finish. Schedule changes may change the selection. Every confirmed finished match is also free. Other competitions retain one complete featured match each, plus all finished matches.

The last ten relevant games.
Each briefing uses up to ten completed games in that league before kickoff. All games is the default: both home and away results for each team. Choose Home / away to use the home team’s home games and the away team’s away games. The selection updates every card, percentage, result strip and history table. Early in the season, choose Current season to exclude last season’s games, or keep Last 10 for the wider sample. This choice disappears once both teams have ten current-season games in the selected venue scope. Domestic league research excludes cups and friendlies. Cup research includes only the selected competition’s main draw. Split league phases are combined within their competition, with current matchdays shown for each active group.
The result strips run from oldest to newest, with a thin divider marking a change of season. Hover or select a result for its date and score, or read the match history below. We import up to 550 days of history, so records can span seasons. Season dividers use Sportmonks season IDs and names, never an assumed calendar date. Newly promoted clubs may have fewer eligible top-flight results; lower-division or cup games do not fill that gap.
Missing scores, unfinished games, postponed fixtures and abandoned matches are excluded. A missing score is never counted as zero. A smaller sample is shown as a smaller sample.
Three questions, with clear definitions.
- Both teams to score
- Both teams scored at least one goal in the same game. A 1–1 counts; a 3–0 does not.
- Match goals
- The two scores added together. Over 2.5 means three or more total goals. The preview includes 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5 lines.
- Team goals
- A team’s own goal count. Over 1.5 means that team scored at least twice. Compare its scoring record with its upcoming opponent’s conceding record. The tables show over 0.5, 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5, plus failed to score, for full time, the first half and the second half. Use the team, period and goal-line controls below the tables to inspect an outcome.
These definitions refer to regulation time plus stoppage time. We accept ordinary full-time results with valid regulation scores. For supported cup games that finish after extra time or penalties, verified 90-minute scores still qualify. Extra-time and shootout goals, awarded results, walkovers, suspended, abandoned and incomplete matches are excluded.
