Team over 1.5 goals: when scoring and conceding records disagree

A team can score regularly without facing an opponent that regularly concedes. That is the useful tension in a team-goals comparison: two records can point in different directions, and both can be accurate.

Before Inter’s meeting with Udinese on 14 September 2026, Inter had scored at least twice in eight of its latest ten eligible Serie A games. Udinese had conceded at least twice in three of its latest ten. Those are two pieces of context for the same scoring question.

First, choose whose goals you mean

Inter over 1.5 goals means Inter scoring two or more. Udinese’s own goals do not count toward that total. For example, Inter winning 2–0 would meet the condition; a 1–1 draw would not, even though both games contain two goals overall.

The comparison is therefore Inter’s scored column against Udinese’s conceded column. Comparing both teams’ scoring rates answers a different question.

The season boundary changes the story

Each ten-game sample contains seven matches from 2025/26 and three from 2026/27. In those three current-season games, Inter scored at least twice in two; Udinese conceded at least twice in two. The current-season comparison is therefore 2 of 3 on each side.

That does not settle what happens next. Three games are a small sample. It does show that the 80% versus 30% contrast comes largely from older results. A last-ten record is not automatically a description of this season’s team.

Check the explanation before shrinking the sample

Look at the opponents and dates behind each column. These teams played different schedules. Both samples also contain five home and five away games, while this particular meeting has Inter at home and Udinese away.

A disagreement is an answer worth keeping

The takeaway can remain: Inter’s wider scoring record is strong, but Udinese’s wider conceding record does not support it to the same extent. The smaller current-season samples tell another story. Neither side needs to be discarded to make the numbers agree.
